SimPostscript

The SimPostscript property is used to set or read the Postscript Simulation option in the printer driver. Some operations are not allowed on Postscript and PDF printers because on these printers the application cannot read from the destination device.

Some applications query the printer and modify their drawing operations if the printer is a Postscript printer. This option is useful for printing Wordarts and semi-transparent backgrounds using Office.

Return Value

SetSimPostscript returns 1 if successful, 0 otherwise. SimPostscript and GetSimPostscript returns the current value for the Postscript Simulation option.

Remarks

The call should be followed by a call to SetDefaultConfig for the setting to take effect.

Some applications do not work properly when this option is activated. These applications mainly include graphical editing applications such as Adobe Photoshop® or Corel Draw®. The Postscript Simulation option can be deactivated for these applications by modifying the "PSDisabled" registry entry using the SetPrinterParamStr method (example below).

When the SimPostscript option needs to be changed for a specific printout and not set as default for all printouts, the ImageOptions property provides a more efficient way using IO_SIMPOSTSCRIPT flag.

However, if the default setting in the SimPostscript is enabled. It is not possible to generate No Postscript file programmatically just using ImageOptions property.
